The Battle of Helm's Deep

Happy New Year!

Nice way to start mine, by the way. What with placements just around the corner. 5 more days and it will all be over.

Reminds me of the Battle of Helm's Deep from JRR Tolkien's LOTR. In the battle, 10,000 of Saruman's Uruk-hai laid siege to the fortress which was defended by around 300 Rohirrim and 11 archers. They were supported by 2000 more of Theoden's troops. Led by Theoden, this was one of the fiercest battles fought on Middle earth.

My favourite part...

Arise, arise, Riders of Theoden!
Feel deeds awake: fire and slaughter!
spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered,
a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!
Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor!

Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor!

The King cried to Snowmane and the horse galloped ahead...
